The long version

Sixty New Zealand pine blocks, a stack that climbs to a full five feet, and a pair of specialty dice that change what you are allowed to pull. The dice are the whole point: they turn a quiet game of nerve into something loud enough that the neighbours look over the fence.

The scoreboard rides in the bag with the blocks. We added it after watching three summers of people keeping score on a phone and losing the thread by the fourth round. A dry-wipe board and a marker settle more arguments than any rule sheet ever did.

Roll the dice, pull what the dice say — a colour, a row position, two blocks instead of one. Players who have beaten everyone at the plain version find out fast that they were only good at choosing their own blocks.

The wood is the same stock as our first set, cut a touch longer so the finished tower clears five feet. The blocks are smooth-sanded, unfinished, and they darken a little after a season outside. That is the wood doing what wood does, not a defect.

  • Worth the money, durable, fun to play

Was a present for my son and his family. They use it when they have backyard parties in the summer along with other games they have. Good quality, durable, fun to play, worth the money.

  • Fun game

I bought this to use as a game at my daughter’s wedding. We wrote activities on each block and guests took turns doing the activity they pulled. It was a big hit! It is also nice that this set comes with a convenient carrying case.
